Gore Gals - The Making of the Website
This project has been in the works for months. Originally more of a joke among friends, the colloquially named Goresite was in its infancy for a long time. When I bought the domain name for a paltry fourteen US dollars, it was still sort of silly. It was a case of mistaken identity that turned it into a reality.
I had spent the last several months sharing information to my friends and followers on X, gaining a reputation for always being around whenever the late Commander Graham Gore was mentioned in any capacity. It had been fun at first, but as I attempted to become more serious in my research, I was reaching out to several people to try to get past the roadblocks and brick walls I was beginning to repeatedly run into. It became a chain of “you should reach out to this person”, who would tell me to reach out to another. I had resigned myself to the limited knowledge I had, and was prepared to call it quits. A direct message on X, asking a much more seasoned and respected researcher for advice on how to best cite a source, would be the turning point. I was asked if I was also posting on Tumblr, under a different name. I was not, but I checked out their page anyways. On a whim, I decided to reach out, to see if they were interested in comparing notes.
I was beginning to become frustrated with the way information would be presented with no source, no citation, and further digging would make me realize that the information was either entirely false, or poorly researched. Before we decided to team up, my research had been disorganized, my theories and speculations half-formed.
Our bond was formed nearly instantly, I think we were both a bit starved for someone to talk to about this niche interest. It quickly turned into sharing and swapping information, before I suggested it would be a good idea to collaborate. The next several weeks were a whirlwind of fact checking and fact rechecking, gathering sources, putting everything we both knew separately together into a cohesive set. Watching the website come together was exciting and equally nerve wracking. But come together it did, and now here we sit. I personally could not ask for a better person to take on a task such as this one. It would not look half as good without JK’s help.
The future of the research project is one in the air. We are going to continue to add to our existing catalogue of information, and attempt to uncover even more information regarding Gore and his family. We hope you will stick around.
